The grass is finally growing well, the sheep are getting fat and sassy on grass, but this blasted rain won’t quit! I’m thankful to not be a crop farmer this year!
We will be weaning the UK-sired lamb crop on June 4, when I will also be putting rams in for fall lambs. I am currently scheduling ultrasound (loin eye and back fat) for sometime in late June/early July. This way I should get the EBVs back from Lambplan around July 20, then make selection decisions. At that time I will put out the ewe lamb list.
We still have rams for sale. They, too, are getting fat on grass and are waiting for some girls to court…….
